The “Boss” might have been born in Long Branch, New Jersey – neighboring city to Asbury Park; but for every reason under the sun, he truly belongs to Asbury Park, New Jersey.
Of course my hope is that you will take the time to read the above links if you are a Bruce Springsteen Fan and, just as equally, you will read the link to this remarkable city that has taken a journey together over the years. This smaller town of seventeen to twenty thousand people has come a long way in rebuilding Asbury Park. The hope of many, including my brother, is that the same energy and money will be placed into restoring housing in the parts of town that desperately needs help. The YouTube link will give you a feeling for the city.
Other sites from the Boardwalk in Asbury Park which is just three blocks from where I am staying:
Yes, I have reached my brother’s apartment in Asbury Park, just three short blocks from the Boardwalk. To me, he is the most ‘famous and nicest’ person in Asbury Park, New Jersey. He has lived here eight years. Many of you have met “Bill Stevens”. I can hardly believe that we are here together. How great is that! Driving here from Absecon, New Jersey, I passed through two toll booths – it was easy throwing the coins in and the total cost was $1.50. That certainly is not too expensive if they use the money for some good for the people.
